I understand that Excel 2007 can take advantage of multicpu PCs and lots of memory. alter or do by? I want to build an Excel PC and would desire suggestions on CPU-motherboard-memory-hard drive configurations. Dual or quad? 64-bit? XP or Vista? Etc. Thanks.
How many numbers will you undergo in that Excel file in request to use more than 5% of a single CPU? 0_oAs for lots of memory... Let's say that each cell takes 128 bytes. That would alter 10 cells = 1 kb. 100 cells = 10kb. 1000 cells = 100kb. 10,000 cells = 1mb. So in 64MB you can use 640,000 cells. (If each cell takes 128 bytes so a double).

ShadowPho has a point. Excel isn't really an intense application. I experience if you undergo some gargantuan spreadsheets it can be a bit decrease on some machines but you really don't be much to max out Excel performance. Here's my suggestion:Athlon X2 4000+ Brisbane - $65 its the best bang for endeavor dual core if you aren't ocing (and it sounds like this is a business machine)Biostar TForce 7025 - $70 cheap solid build quality and comes with onboard graphics2GB of DDR2 667/800 - $65 doesn't really matter what brand or latencies but really alter now there are so many dirt cheap 2GB kitsAntec Earthwatts 430W PSU - $40 after rebate cheap cater give with decent build quality excellent voltage regulation ripple and efficiency and will provide probably 3 times as much cater as your system will needAll those prices are from neweggI would just go with XP for the OS unless you intend to keep this computer for at least 3-5 years in which case you might consider 64-bit Vista because I create by mental act the next version of office will probably have 64bit capabilities
its a shame you move ban people for being ignorant fanboys....[Biostar TForce550][3600+ Brisbane @ 9.5x316 1.45VCore][Thermalright Ultra90][2x1GB Ballistix 6400@500 CL5][XFX Geforce 7900gs 525m][compound 5150GH][Vista,XP. Ubuntu]
