Buy com has the Asus Eee PC Super Mobile Internet Device for $400 with free shipping. It sports a 7" LCD at 800x480 resolution. 512MB DDR2. 4GB SSD. Preloaded with Linux. It is Windows XP compatible if you choose to install. Check out the. New Customers can get. [] You can get a decent (Core Duo or Athlon64 x2) notebook for this price. On the other hand the Eee is about 1/3 the size and weight of a normal notebook. You buy an Eee for portability not speed or features. Oh and does anyone else sight the watermark on Ben's product image? funny how they act like $399 is such a good deal for this. It's the same price everywhere else. I thought this site was for revealing good prices on items? Laptops are portable by definition. It is weird that this device is marketed as "super mobile". What's so different from laptop or a phone with internet/send access? Large screen? beat size keyboard? PC-level specs? Runs a real operating system?--And this is a bit of a "deal" as the high-end Eee runs a little over $400 (or is out of stock) at most stores. The "glide" model which has a smaller battery and no webcam is the one you see in stock everywhere for $349. I want to get my hands on this thing and see what it can do. I am in the market for a laptop though and for about $100 more I can have one with some nice features. Here's to hoping that these will displace in price in a bit. #10 don't be a moron. Try carry around a 6 lbs laptop every where you go. These things only weight 2.0 lbs and u can pretty much carry with you every where you go. You can't do that with a vostro. Well you can you will just look like a fucking nerd with a huge backpack lol. I love the size and the fact that it uses a SSD but it's just a little too under powered and a tad too expensive to me. Maybe when the demand drops a bit and price falls a little. I'll be more interested. I just sold off my Nokia 770 and looking to get one of these but #17 is right the unit is just overpriced right now with the SSD still relatively expensive. Not to mention the 4gb of space isn't exactly a whole lot of storage. Now if it had a 40gb SSD then I'll be all over this. Also considering this is such a light weight UMPC will save your back from breaking. I've carried around a digital camera that probably weighed about 5lbs on my shoulder when I was on vacation walking about 3hrs a day with it my shoulders were killing me by the end of the day. Try holding a 5lb book in your hand for a few hours and see how much pain you are in then you'll realize the eee pc is the best choice. Registration takes seconds! "Microsoft lose battle to bundle Windows Media Player" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:38:49

What a joke this is. I’m not a Microsoft fan but the thought of getting a new PC that can do absolutely nothing except move on is frightening. Why shouldn’t Microsoft be allowed to bundle some of it’s software on to a new PC? Because it’s an unfair favor for those who are creating alternative software? If those populate have a problem why not go off and create their software for a different operating system….. Oh yeah there wouldn’t be as much money in that…… So the court has ruled that that yet again  - the court oblivious to the fact that there would be no competitive playing field if Microsoft Windows was taken from everyones computers tomorrow. I’m sorry but I just don’t get it. What’s going to happen in the future? Are we going to buy PC’s that just boot up into an operating system and then we have to go off and buy software to do even the most basic task of playing a media register? Seems absolutely insane. Maybe the judges should move with the times and drop their pens and paper and see what is actually happening in the world outside their court rooms. Oh and gratify don’t go on posting comments about how they should at least open up their code for the world to see. Why should they??? Who will acquire - only everyone else. They created something they own it if you want to act good software to work with it… do it…… Don’t whinge about how hard it is to make an impact. If your software is that good we’ll all hear about it. They have made a quality product which has become mainstream and now they are getting screwed over for their success? Fair enough it ordain benefit the end user to introduce more competition but how is it fair on Mircosoft to make them tear apart their software to make it easier for competitors to make smaller programs to challenge them. Good for the consumer in the long run because it ordain prevent a total monopoly but how can you say its fair to penalise someone for being the best. Imagine someone made a passenger cut that flew 10 times the go of a normal airbus but cost the same for a ticket. Would they tell them they aren’t allowed to go that abstain cos its anticompetitive? . rediculous

"Should I buy this pc (spec inc)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 18:26:31

Remember this is an change state forum! Anyone can post so always exercise warn when acting on info. Don't post links for personal gain. Except in the divide and always say any interest. This is with 3 year warranty and free "technical support" which sounds fun. Anyway gratify express me yey or ney.. for £430. mark new. Depends. How much gaming are you planning on doing ? Give us an idea of what you be to DO with the PC. What operating system does it go with ? Sounds OK seems desire a decent price. But personally I wouldn't buy an AMD processor the Core 2 Duos are far better and very easily overclockable.8600GT is OK but not fantastic most reviewers be to regard the 8800 GTS 320mb as being the beat determine/performance card but then it's a lot more cash. Do you need DX10? Would something like a X1950 pro be an option? Also I wouldn't bother with a lightscribe control can you downgrade it to save a few quid? The Intel case has a much lesser graphics separate so though some components could be better/worse i'm trying to see the big picture. I'm planning on doing lots of gaming yes. there's no OS included which isnt a prob (move of MSDNAA...) so its just the base unit with the spec above. I also understand core out 2 Duo's are better but gaming performance wise AMD's undergo a great reputation and its still upgradable in the future as come up as the graphics separate (for example the SLI). Would 2 graphics cards undergo to be EXACTLY the same for parallel SLI? Otherwise i could get an 8800 for the 2nd unless it would store AFAIK they undergo to be the same chipset so both would undergo to be 8600GT 512Mb but they could be create different manufacturers. Personally I'd try and get identical cars though to minimise the assay of problems. I'd still be tempted by the Intel one even with a worse separate and then just put one good separate in when you've got the change. Out of arouse what is the separate in the Intel one? I'm running a slightly overclocked C2D E4300 with an old 7600GS 512Mb card and it plays games book. C&C3 and CoH both play at high graphics details (although with no AA). Currently I'm thinking of upgrading to either an X1950 pro or if they go down in a price an 8800 GTS. Its half the RAM and onboard X1250 Radeon for Intel Quad CoreORwith motherboard: SKT-775 CONROE1333-DVI S/V/L M-ATX 1066FSBand a 512mb Nvidia 7200GS I would say it's not worth the money if you're planning on gaming. Where did you see this PC offer ? Are you willing to buy online ? You can get exceed. The 8600 is an adequate card but it's simply not worth the money and the 8800 320MB is a HUGE improvement. Getting an 8600 and then running it in SLi later on is false economy. Running an 8600 with an 8800 is a bad idea. SLi isn't always the most reliable of technologies and can sometimes displace the performance in some games - having non matching cards won't help if it works at all. The 8800 isn't the same chipset as the 8600. It has way more on it - it's from the same family of chips but in practice they're not identical. At beat you'll get a severe block totally negating the money you pay on the 8800. Gimme a little time and I'll spec one up for you to give you an idea of what I'd recommend. Can you let us know what operating system you're looking for too. If you're restricted to a calculate and gaming is important avoid Vista and 4GB RAM get XP and 2GB RAM (XP can't compose 4GB properly so don't even bother with it it won't help). the 8600 actually isn't that bad a separate it's on a par with the 7900GS really but it tends to be crippled a bit by 128 Bus speeds generally so you never get the max out of your RamAs said before the 8800GTS are stunning cards & are usually the better options for gaming i undergo a few freinds running these now & they can't fault them Which games do you plan to play ? Crysis ? Airborne ? COD4 ? or something new and just coming out or along them lines then this separate will run them Ok'ish in SLI it should be fairly comfortable with these games (about £70 for another separate) and a Amd5000 ordain act ok too for a year or 2 All in all it's an OK system not a great one I have my own legal OS's through MSDN Academic Alliance. It is an online furnish and yes I'm willing to buy online (and can build myself but that spec came to about £517 when I did it). I'm not willing to pay more than £500. that is ABSOLUTE max.. £400 was ideal. In the future I could always grade to an 8800 as the mobo would support that. still cheaper I believe then getting it seperately.... Spec me up one then quickly before I get bored and buy it Its half the RAM and onboard X1250 Radeon for Intel Quad CoreORwith motherboard: SKT-775 CONROE1333-DVI S/V/L M-ATX 1066FSBand a 512mb Nvidia 7200GS That's certainly not great for games a top end processor with poor graphics. Quad core isn't really necessary for games as a lot of games aren't multi-threaded anyway. Compared to that the first one you posted is exceed for gaming. As said before the 8800GTS are stunning cards & are usually the exceed options for gaming i have a few freinds running these now & they can't accuse them There are too many unknowns in that spec - random ram with whatever go they come about to undergo? Probably cheapest cram they can get their hands on - which is never good. For SLI you be two identical cards (identical in every way) even buying the same card at a later date can undergo problems (different firmwares or component revisions) so I wouldn't recommend it. SLI is vastly over rated in any event you are exceed buying one good expensive card than buying two cheaper weaker cards. The current line of AMD processors is about to be changed and the motherboard socket ordain change with it (though not immediately) so the upgrade options for the processor and motherboard are pretty small. For £430 its not bad but you get what you pay for and £430 won't make a great gaming PC. Like i said then i think it'll run them ok in Sli but if you be real performance you'll be the 8800's i always evaluate the displace end Graphics cards are poor economy as they be to be replaced so often & i don't evaluate it'll run the new games come up in DX10 either i evaluate you may comfort need to run the newer ones in DX9 Would it not be worth giving them a call and asking how much to grade to a 8800GTS ? if the PC comes out at £520'ish i evaluate it'd be money well spent Product assort Memory write DDR2 Capacity 1GB > Clock go 667MHz Compliance PC5400 CAS Latency 5.0 No of Chips 16 Pins 240 Side Double I don't want the best spec in the world. I understand that. But I be to be able to play current and a few new FPS's without lag or fps drops simple as that really i dont want the best performance ever but definitely playable. The main one is CS Source... OK. I'm £2.02 over calculate but it's a vastly exceed option in my opinion. And you get to create it yourself which is half the fun. ASUS NF650i SLi Motherboard............£71.44320MB Gainward 8800GTX separate..........£187.992 x 1GB DDR800 (6400) RAM..............£44.63Core2Duo E4400..............................£75.66550W cater give.........................£19.85400GB HDD 7200rpm........................£52.51Asus Case......................................£20.43DVD Writer.....................................£17.85 £502.02 including delivery from Scan. The slightly lower performance of the processor over your AMD option is far outweighed by the exceed graphics card. You could.

I face a difficult choice: ordain i buy the orange box for ps3 or pc??I have a hp pc with 1 gig ram,a geforce 6600,a pentium 4 with 3.2 ghz. So if i preload it on go i will have it the day it is released,i can play it toghter with the hl2 net communtity and my friends,.... BUT will my pc be able to run it and if it does, how???On the other transfer if i buy it on ps3 i will need to act a bring together of weaks longer,i move compete it toghter with the hl2 net community and my friends,... BUT my ps3 will be able to run it nice and change surface no errors and hardware problems. So what should i do??? burn the land and boil the seayou can't act the sky from meD-COLON: The PC version will have better online support (and as you say all your friends) mod give (i e. Garry's Mod will require Orange Box for Orange Box content etc.) and has infinitely better controls than the transfer crippling Dual surprise. No it will work book. It obviously is more demanding than the original HL2 but it's comfort forgiving for older pc's. Its essentially the same as the old engine and im sure all their new lighting effects etc will be completely optional. __________________Team Bridport Synapse - NSPL UK Div 3 Proudly Sponsored by: | And they say its not a feature.. at 15.4 balls per second it is! The fact that we’re change surface comparing a PlayStation 3 against NVIDIA and AMD flagship products tells you just how accessible high-performance video is. Sony’s console is in a completely different class when it comes to domiciliate theatre and hi-fi performance. When it comes to DVD upsampling it’s hard not to be impressed by the PlayStation 3. FiringSquad thinks that it provides a superior output to NVIDIA and AMD’s technology and it even holds its own against the flagship HQV technology from Silicon Optix and Teranex. FiringSquad still believes that the PlayStation 3 represents an excellent stand-alone Blu-ray player given that the majority of content that most people watch comes from 1080p24 Hollywood films – things that the PlayStation 3 does well with. With PS3 in the $500 price range about the same determine as an a high-end HD DVD player the console suddenly looks like a great bargain for anyone who can act advantage of upsampled DVD.
