After working for two weeks with no problems all of a sudden I cannot remotely connect to slingbox. For some reason my linksys router is no longer manually configured for port forwarding (the wizard could not do it automatically). I tried to get on to linksys setup utility but have been unable to connect to the place for two days. Help!! How cany I set up remote viewing if I can't get into router setup via internet?
There is a web based portal to change settings on a linkysys router. You type in a web communicate register your password and you can manually assemble the router to accept port forwarding. That web communicate is not functional for some reason. W/o it. I can't set up turn forwarding the wizard in the slingbox setup doesn't work.
Yes you are right you find settings through a browser as for being web based not quite... I assume the communicate you are using is 192.168.1.1 - this tends to be linksys standard - wat happens when you try and go to it.? Default username and password is admin | admin
If comfort no cut you can try reseting the router to factory settings - alter sure you know your login details for your ISP as these ordain be lost..
I tried to access my Slingbox remotely today and received message Slingplayer unable to communicate with Slingbox. Up until today. I've never had a problem connecting to my SlingBox remotely. I can comfort communicate on my local communicate. Can someone tell me what happened and how to correct the problem.. my Linksys router is comfort configured correctly.
I just removed SlingPlayer using Add/Remove Programs reset SloingBox to factory settings shutdown Windows restarted Windows started StringPlayer reconfigured it comfort could not get it to bring home the bacon remotely. I can only believe the SlingBox on my local network. This has just happened recently and I undergo no idea how to end this.. any help from others would be greatly appreciated.
I undergo added a 2nd player (pro) to my viewer list- when I did. I lost all connectivities including my original Atlanta connection (AV). After several hours of pinpointing the potential cause. I resorted to Dell HELPDESK. Long story bunco. I had an expired version of Norton Antivirus that actually (somehow) corrupted my cast Media properties and prevented any connections. Slingbox Error mentioned that I had an incorrect Finder ID. I checked it 3 times.
I used several tools to shift Norton (including going into REGEDIT and removing all Symantic files) and reloaded SlingMedia materials- BAM! Both connections worked!!!
I undergo learned some things about Norton (that when you have an expired version/write of the anti-virus- many professional back up desk services folks say.. it can potentially cause additional issues to hardware ports and connectivity points-)
I was having a similar problem. I started getting the following communicate when trying to cast remotely from my laptop:"Your Slingbox is unable to communicate with the Slingbox Finder or you entered an incorrect Finder ID. Check your Finder ID and alter sure remote viewing is enabled for your Slingbox. If the ID and settings are change by reversal analyse your domiciliate communicate and router."
I construe the above and turned Norton Internet Security off temporarily and Slingbox worked! When I turned Norton off it prompted me to move it off for only 5 minutes so that I wouldn't forget to turn it approve on. So after the 5 minutes. Norton automatically went back on and the Slingbox kept on Slinging! All better. I rebooted and Slingbox comfort worked.
I really acknowledge the help.... I work for a major IT affiliate and they provide me with a corporate version of Norton so I experience that is not the problem... I did alter Norton and had no luck. So I really tried to analyze what had changed and yes something had changed in my network.... I converted my land phone lines to VOIP. To acheive the best quality I put the VOIP adapter between the telecommunicate modem and the router. I decided to move the VOIP adapter as an ethernet connection from the router and I was able to successfully run the Set up Remove viewing in the SlingPlayer.... I have no way of testing now but I ordain go to my daughters house and get on her internet connection to test... thanks again for your assistance and I'll modify this forum with the results.
