"Eye-Fi Wireless Card" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 23:06:34

The Eye-Fi SD Card not only turns your digital camera into a wireless one but it also saves you a few steps in the uploading process. The 2GB Eye-Fi provides a simple reliable way to transfer your photos from your camera to your PC photo-sharing site or social networking summon and does so automatically so long as you're within range of your router. It's one of the coolest accessories we've seen in years and it works like magic. We just desire it worked beyond your home network. In the box you get a 2GB SD Card an SD Card reader for your PC and a short instruction booklet. After installing the software (conveniently stored on the card) and creating a free account on Eye-Fi's Web site you select a wireless connection and choose a destination for your uploaded photos (after your intial setup you can sock the reader away and never use it again). Your computer must be on if you want to transfer to a folder but if you want to upload to a photo-sharing site all you have to do is power on your camera in the vicinity of your router. You can't upload photos when you're connected to public Wi-Fi since many of these sites have initial splash screens. That's a bummer especially because we're most likely to fill up our SD Cards when we're away from home. Eye-Fi doesn't work outside the U. S. either. The assign process is as easy as promised although not as satisfying as you'd imagine. Uploading images directly to Flickr using an 802.11g notebook and a domiciliate router took about 45 seconds per conceive of. When we set the Eye-Fi to transfer to our PC it took 1 hour and 37 minutes. On other tests however uploading to the Web took just 15 seconds. According to Eye-Fi this variation in upload times is normal; the type of broadband connection and your distance from the router both affect speeds. One complaint: Because the camera doesn't have an interface that tells you photos are being transmitted you're never quite sure when it's safe to move your digicam off--unless you're watching your PC or your photo-sharing site of choice. Although you can store any file format on the card you can upload only JPEGS. On the other hand we like that the Eye-Fi automatically resizes photos according to each place's standards. Before you begin the assign process be sure to alter your camera's power management or else it's likely to move off by default. If you forget to do this. Eye-Fi will pick up where it left off once you power on the camera again. We were pleased to see that leaving our Pentax.

"Asus Nova P22 mini PC and some golden ladies" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:03:56

It's a mini desktop with a Core 2 Duo some RAM and probably a few sockets round the approve for putting a mouse and keyboard into. There's almost certainly a USB socket on it somewhere probably also go the back. And a power socket. And a monitor socket. The back of it must be much bigger then the lie. But obviously we're more interested in that woman in the middle pretending to do a bring up hold. It's clearly just resting on her hands not magically floating in the air. She is not fooling anyone. I evaluate you're being a bit harsh on the one on the right. She's got the "Jane from Neighbours" potential. I sight it helps to create by mental act her gently caressing your balls. I would acknowledge a photo of your balls to back up with this. I would with the one on the left just because I'm noble like that and I evaluate she gets her feelings hurt a lot by internet faux-gadget-site-frequenters. And I'm desperate wnykwmm = why not yoke kayaks with metallic matron?

"News Bits: OQO Updates Model 02 Tablet PC and Lowers Prices, Order ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 15:37:03

The OQO model 02 is now coming packed with bigger hard drives new flash memory SSD faster CPU speeds and improved wireless connectivity. All of this comes with a reduced determine tag as come up. The new and improved model 02 has prices starting at $1,299. Talks are currently being held to discuss putting an Intel processor inside the OLPC. The OLPC currently runs on a 433MHz AMD Geode processor which is quite slow by mainstream standards. However it is very power efficient and does not cost much. The OLPC will go into production at the end of September or early October. No decision has been made on whether or not OLPC will use Intel processors. Using Intel processors will demand a redesign. Intel plans to use modified versions of the Celeron M processor the A100 and the A110. The "Silverthorne" processor will be built on a 45nm process and is dual-core. The chip is extremely small so production costs should be low but it is not known yet whether or not the chip will be cheap enough.

"Users Voice Their Opinions About the Fujitsu LifeBook T4220" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 17:15:36

list coming in at number four this past month. Since its release many users have commented on the pros and cons of this tablet and we would like to share them with you. The opinions are chosen based on the determine of the information (in our opinion) to our readers. We don't necessarily pick only the "positive" opinions or only the "negative" opinions. We pick the opinions that we think ordain be most helpful to you as you obtain for and analyse Tablet PCs. The T4220 is an evolution of the a 4.3 hit ultra-light and convertible notebook. It is designed for mobile professionals who be note-taking abilities via pen enter as come up as the traditional keyboard enter of a standard notebook. It sports a Core 2 Duo processor from the Santa Rosa platform and can be configured to the users liking. The screen can be turned in both directions thanks to the industry's first bi-directional hinge. The T4220 also features Fujitsu Shock Sensor hard drive protection technology. The T4220 has been a user favorite and I know many students undergo recently chosen it as their back to school companion thanks to the great screen lightweight design and active digitizer. Pros: I did an insane be of investigate and it paid off as I like this laptop. This PC feels pretty lighten despite the specs. I undergo been using the now discontinued Dell XPS M1210 with widescreen and for some reason the XPS feels heavier at supposedly 3.72lbs (even though it has the regular 6-cell battery and not the 9-cell which is what would alter it heavier). The screen is great and it is exceed than a widescreen for a tablet since the rotation doesn't change the circumscribe much. I tried out the HP tx1000z and the widescreen while in tablet mode was very awkward (I returned it the same day I got it if you want a tablet for writing don't even try the tx1000z). The responsiveness of the pen and features are pretty amazing. I create verbally both in English and Spanish and Windows Vista's handwriting recognition picked up most of my bad (and fast) handwriting and turned in into text with very few errors. Windows recognized it exceed than any friend or student of mine! Cons: My main complaint are Fujitsu's pre-configured models. They do not offer the indoor/outdoor display or the SXGA unless you customize. The problem with customization is that all sales are final so you can't return the PC. Because I needed to try it first. I felt forced to request a pre-config model and I am now returning it because I conclude the need the SXGA show (more desktop space) and I want more hard drive lay. But that is a matter of taste. Most people don't have a problem with XGA. The keyboard contract and alter are secondary complaints but nothing too uncomfortable. It still runs cooler than my XPS M1210. The suede patches do work in making the alter issues more comfortable. The color cover does tend to grab finger prints easily so keep a cloth handy. Pros: The T4220 has a solid design bi-directional hinge (turns clockwise or counterclockwise) nice keyboard layout newer and exceed pen design optical bay control (DVD/CD-ROM control or modular bay battery) and the weight is well-balanced whether in portrait or landscape modes. This unit feels durable and it has a nice appearance too! Cons: The unit gets unusually change too change to put on your lap when working. I've called Fujitsu and they don't have a recall for this issue. My tablet is 13 months old yes one month beyond the warranty and the hard drive sounds desire it's about to press itself to death. Between that and the excessive alter coming from the unit. I would undergo expected more for a $2,000 + Fujitsu computer. Good news is now they're only $1,700 so buy one knowing you'll need a new hard drive and deal with the alter.

"HP Announces Compaq 2710p to be Offered with 64GB SSD" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 09:08:02

It's interesting to say that HP will not offer a 32GB SSD like many other manufacturers have started to do. HP feels there's simply not enough lay left for storage on a 32GB drive after the Windows VistaOS and other basic software has been installed. Therefore they jumped straight to offering the more capacious and expensive. 64GB SSD. Pricing has not been announced by HP at this measure but availability for configuration should be soon. We would evaluate the upgrade cost to a 64GB SSD drive to be in excess of $500.

"CODi Tri-Pak Backpack review" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-03 18:27:57

The Tri-Pak is color with a few red accents on the zippers and where they stitched on the name mark. CODi. The two front pockets have arched zippers but other than that the Tri-Pak looks like a normal backpack.  The color and style of the bag is targeted more toward males than females. CODi does not currently furnish any alternative colors that might appeal to females. All the same the black color is good for that professional be and for hiding dirt and feature that a bag ordain hive away over measure. But what it might lack in call it definitely makes up for in design. CODi states on their website that the Tri-Pak or the manifold Compartment hike has "11 distinct organizer compartments in addition to the padded notebook section."  They weren’t kidding; this bag has more pockets and compartments than any other bag I’ve reviewed. And they are actually useful. Starting at the front there are the two arched zippered pockets I mentioned earlier. The smaller one is just big enough for crack Stick an extra pen/draw or a small store of hand lotion/sanitizer. The larger take could hold a cell telecommunicate wallet take organizer or an external walk. But neither pocket can direct anything too thick without the pockets bulging.  Two other pockets are located on a larger zippered take or the lie compartment. Inside this compartment there are three displace pockets. Two of the mesh pockets are the same and are the perfect size for a checkbook billfold or graphing calculator. The third mesh pocket has a place for pencils markers or lip-gloss as come up as a business separate take and a key fob. The middle compartment has four mesh pockets: two zippered pockets and two elasticized pockets. The top zippered take has a small pass-through for MP3 or iPod ear buds. The pass-through is protected from the outside by a small Velcro take.  The back up zippered pocket would be great for an AC adapter heap an external mouse or graphing calculator. It could also be handy for storing make-up or snacks.  Between the lay and main compartments there is a quasi hidden compartment that can be opened from two small align zippers.  The CODi websites suggests that the extra storage is "ameliorate for snacks or other soft items." I conclude like if you put snacks in this pocket they would get crushed so store these at your own risk.  The main compartment is where the laptop is stored. Besides the padded laptop sleeve and fasten there is a large nylon take and two smaller nylon elasticized pockets. With the laptop in the bag these pockets would be exceed to hold on let go papers a change state turn notebook or a folder. The laptop sleeve fits most 15.4” notebooks according to the CODi website. It fit my Dell Latitude D620 perfectly. The sleeve has a change state forge of padding that surrounds the laptop and an adjustable fasten bind to secure the laptop in displace.  The approve of the Tri-Pak is padded with "various neoprene materials." The same material is used in the curved straps. The straps are ergonomic according to the website. CODi provides a on their site providing information about their ergonomic research and recommendations. So if ergonomics are important to you. CODi products are a perfect match. The Tri-Pak was great for the organizing! Everything had its place in the backpack; the only downfall was it was almost too much for me. (CODi has a smaller version called the Sling-Pak with fewer pockets.) The laptop is definitely obtain in the bag thanks to the adjustable fasten and there is a thick liner at the furnish of the backpack that seems to sorb the shock of setting the hike on the ground. I wasn’t chucking the hike around with my laptop in it but I entangle assured that my notebook was well protected from minor bumps and obstacles. My favorite part of the Tri-Pak was how comfortable it was to carry around. The padding on the approve was especially nice because you didn’t get schedule corners or other pointy objects stabbing you in the back. The Tri-Pak would be a great hike for college students who be to carry their notebooks to categorise. It’s functional as a notebook case as well as great for staying organized. The only downfall would be the $148 determine tag but with the warranty and quality materials it’s a bag you could use for all four years of school.

"Fujitsu T2010 Tablet PC User Review" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-26 15:20:40

The is Fujitsu's latest pass in its mobile lay army. The polish color tablet doesn't have an optical control which is a departure from the tried and true 42xx platform but in the ultra-light arena optical find is usually omitted. I definitely undergo a triumvirate of firsts going here (first laptop tablet and Fujitsu product) but upon unwrapping the come up packaged device. I entangle alter at home. Upon charging the battery. I couldn't refrain from powering the unit up! The screen is like looking at a photograph. On maximum brightness limited outdoor use may be possible but upon application of the included screen protectors this conceive of slowly dwindled. Maybe I'm just spoiled from the deep differentiate and rich colors of the 12.1" widescreen naked. On the short list is something that would allow me to experience this fleeting memory even if free of stare resistance is required. As great as this screen is nothing can be the indoor/outdoor check option for a "paper-like" appearance; change surface usable in enjoin sunlight. If you've haven't purchased it yet the indoor/outdoor screen should be at the top of the list. If you're color with admire and already made the indoor penetrate analyse out and for $100 get the end the T2010 deserves. There is no latching mechanism for the lid in either tablet or laptop mode but the unit remained fairly stable in both modes. The keyboard has a good feel to it but I've used exceed ones. It is very quite has a great layout nice size but there is more flex in it than I expected (especially around the ASD and E keys) and hence the keyboard can conclude a little mushy. It's not something that I sight when I'm typing but if I look for it. I ordain sight it. The pen is on the small coat compared to my Wacom Graphire 4x5 tablet and larger hands may feel cramped in extended inking sessions. My hands are middle of the road and it worked book but not ameliorate. At first the kill answer of the pen seemed to demand way to much pressure in order to erase. I thought I may need a new Wacom driver to alter the feature but under closer inspection. I could see the eraser graphic be on the screen. It wouldn't answer without heavy pressing of the kill continue though. After a week of ownership this eased to acceptable levels. I also could not get my Wacom Graphire pen to bring home the bacon on the T2010 something to note if you may want to use an alternative inking solution. The Fujitsu 4220 series users should experience already in the 24 hours of ownership I have left my pen at home (twice) while my T2010 and I masqueraded around the campus of my university. Possibly if the pen was in sight. I would have been aware of its absence. The touchstick would wander aimlessly when the sensitivity was set too high. Reducing it all the way to heavy comprehend decreased the frequency of this but in the end I had to opt for a wireless notebook walk. This won't be an issue if you use tablet mode the majority of the time but in notebook mode it drove me wild! Now my change state and light is bogged down with a wireless mouse. I oh so miss a trackpad and I experience a skillful engineer could have open a way to combine one. Since I went for the low end option. (1.06GHz. 1GB RAM. 60GB hard control) I knew I would be in be of a RAM grade. I chose one fasten of 2GB of OCZ DDR2 667 hoping and praying I didn't fall victim to the Fujitsu RAM problem. To my surprise the installed micron brand memory was recognized without incident. The go difference was dramatic between 1GB and 2 1/2GB of RAM. The system booted at least twice as abstain change surface though it wasn't decrease to begin with. However. 1GB left the system clawing at the hard control even during modest loads. Speaking of hard drive activity. Vista's indexing activity can be a battery killer. Options in cater settings can alter this activity to only become when AC Power is utilized. System noise is very low during power save mode and very modest in performance settings. alter also wasn't a problem in tablet mode (it was warm not hot) but if you be the tablet in high performance mode. I think it would be an air. Air intake is at the straighten and fag is on the left align which doesn't cause any problems. Low system go is great unless you be to get audio from the T2010. The hit speaker was by far a deflower on an otherwise jewel of a laptop. It's also was covered in tablet mode meaning there goes your appear. Maybe the integrated Bluetooth will allow streaming audio to wireless headphones? Microphones worked great in both laptop and tablet mode for speech recognition. Speaking of performance the overall feel of the unit was fine for daily usage tasks such as note-taking. Web browsing and email. Wireless performance was top notch on 802.11g. I don't undergo a router with N capability but if it's anything like the G. I'm sure it will be very acceptable. The lack of an optical drive allowed me to run Wi-Fi through its paces. I installed OneNote 2007. Firefox. Thunderbird. Photoshop CS2 and Trend-Micro anti virus. Microsoft Office 2007 and then uninstalled Norton and EverNote Lite. The Vista cater meter has hysteresis so there is a delay before new battery life numbers display. I didn't get the nine hours of battery life Fujitsu claims but very respectable. I can only wonder what the extended battery life can do. I recommend modifying the show settings for indoor use to back up decrease the brightness even more. On maximum brightness the display is brilliant and you won't lose much by going to 80% or even 70%. I'm sure most users will run 50% daily. There is definitely an anomaly with Vista cater functions. On power saver the displayed brightness is set higher than on balanced cater. I'm not sure what other features may be reduced in request to allow cater saver to have greater power reduction than balanced cater but Vista has plenty of customization options to reduce cater even advance. Actual battery life was five and a half hours with non forbid working and power measure says I undergo 10% battery life! I don't know how desire it takes to rush the battery because I haven't run it drink all the way yet. The configuration I undergo has a nice arrange of ports but just your basics. It has two USB ports one VGA-15 pin a headphone and microphone port. IEEE 1394 and a dedicated cause to be perceived separate slot. If you go with the Port Replicator then you get the DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive and AC Adapter. In summary the is all that it can be. Everything it isn't was given up for the design making it a lightweight handsome tablet disguised as a laptop with adequate performance for the ultra-slim sector and business needs. Great integration with Vista Business ordain make all but the most prude drop that XP ever existed.
