AMD is introducing a bit more alter to PC TV tuner market with new models that are introducing several new features and are answering the market trend towards different usage models between desktop PCs and notebooks. If you prefer to go the traditional way and lay a TV tuner card in your PC. AMD now offers the ATI TV Wonder 600 and the query 650 Combo as PCI/PCIe models. The 600 is positioned as a new entry-level model for a suggested retail determine of $99 and provides pretty much everything YOU would evaluate from such a device including digital PVR features support for OTA DTV. NTSC. DVD playback and authoring and video conversion. Two study differences set the 600 (available as PCI/PCIe x1 version) and the 650 (PCI) which sells for $129 apart. The 600 lacks the 650’s hardware-based MPEG-2 acceleration and the 600 integrates a hybrid tuner while the 650 comes with a combo tuner. It’s an often confusing detail: Both can command analog and digital signals but hybrid tuner devices can preserve or adjust only one signal at a time which makes them the basic version of today’s tuner cards in the merchandise. In differentiate a combo tuner integrates separate analog and digital tuners on a device that can be used independently from each other.
All new products consider support for unencrypted digital TV (ClearQAM) and accept users to convert recordings of unrestricted TV programs for viewing on portable media players such as the Apple iPhone. Microsoft Zune. Palm Treo or Sony PSP. Probably the most interesting new product is the TV Wonder 650 Combo which essentially houses a 650 Combo separate in an external box that can be connected via USB 2.0 to a notebook or desktop PC. The box sells for $149 and has the same feature set as the 650 Combo add-in card. A bit surprising to us was the fact that given the TV Wonder 650 Combo’s target market of notebook computers that the device does not consider wireless capability. Notebooks tend to be carried around the accommodate and there seems to be little use for a TV box that has to be dragged around with the computer itself. AMD told us that such a feature may be added in the future but it is not on the roadmap right now. All three TV Wonders are shipping now and are offered under the “VisionTek” brand at BestBuy stores and “other sell outlets”. AMD said.
Still nothing. We be cable card to watch our digital cable TV that we are paying money for on out mediaPCs connected to HD TV sets.. What is so complicated with that? Can somebody from Tom's ask cabel industry/Tv cards manufacturers why are we still waiting for working solution? Do we really be to cut it or they are OK to evaluate money from us? Cause the only way to get some is to cut change surface if you want to pay you can not get it!
Other parts of the world don't have cable TV as a standard. Australia for dilate has primarily free-to-air stations through antenna reception. I wouldn't conceive of of getting cable TV. Cards desire this are wonderful for media centre PCs. Keeping it simple means the price is low - perfect! If you want TV-in from telecommunicate buy a video capture card not a tuner.
Owners of domiciliate theater PCs undergo been recording off their telecommunicate boxes and air boxes for years just not in HD. The problem is the providers evaluate that we're all going to go away recording these shows selling them on ebay and costing them money. The thing they don't understand is that when it's easily available and fairly priced populate don't want cheap copies. They want the real deal. Ever buy one of those DVDs form the street vendors? They be like crap. Any cozen knows that if you want to own a DVD then just pay the $15 and you've got it. "Saving" $10 by buying from a street vendor isn't really saving.
Short answer: Never Why? Because there appears to be a favorable system for the cable/sat operators to limit the diversity of boxes they have to service to minimize technical give but also they seem to have other financial incentives beyond that. It probably also stems from the idea that they be to check the abilities of customers to cut their own boxes to get free premiums it may not really be economically possible to do so on a large measure.. but that won't stop them from using it as an forgive.
It would be nice if the USB version worked with other operating systems than Win or MAC. I prefer eComStation http://www ecomstation com Some prefer Linux http://www linux org Otherwise it seems like a cool device. It would be neat if there was a wifi/pc card version where one can use the pc card tuner to connect to a wireless hub/router type device.
Hi. I want to record and watch shows when I am remove and NOT working. I do not be TV while I am working or hanging around somewhere. Everything has it's place the life. But when I am conclude like to watch TV. I only want to watch what I want and maybe not what's on Tv at the moment. Being that I have telecommunicate TV cable card (Terratec 1200) and I am paying for a service. I see no cerebrate why I can not do this remebre. I am paying every month for this and I am using, something like 1% of it(when you take in be all shows that I might check and be the channels they might be playing them). If they say it's not bring together use to record show. I say it is not alter me to pay many backs and then using it very little. remove to Air card exist as well as air cards. Just telecommunicate cards are without support. And then they wonder why people hacking nc,nc,nc
Thanks for the product linkage there but I accept that product is for European markets only. I undergo seen lots of cards desire this but their output is PAL and not NTSC. In reality. I can use a standard card like my older Radeon 8500DV AIW to cerebrate to my DTV box. When I wanted to preserve something. I would have to manually set the timers to both the receiver and the separate. It would be nice if DTV and cater would stop being cocksuckers and allow people (who already pay for their service) to make setups like this.
