convey you for that. I appreciate any back up I can get. I am coming to the same conclusion that I do not be a Driver but I will be contacting the Seagate Technical converse. It looks as if the problem lies with Active-X and or Macafee Firewal. The Firewall instructsions from Microsoft say "Allow full access for the following: 1) WCESMgr 2) wcesmcomm 3) rapimgr 4) CEAPPMGR....... but my computer does not seem to have the third item "rapimgr" and I winder if that is my problem? I am ot sure where this reply ordain be posted to Brandon or Terry1966 - haven't fully understood the system as yet. I have had a tech chat with seagate and it is NOT a driver problem - it seems to be a "plough Fomrmat" problem. The suggestion is that I reformat the External drive ( I was provided with a cerebrate to enable this) because I was told windows Me [control comes shipped NTFS. Windows ME can not read teh NTFS file systemote]. Before I go to reformat the External plough Drive I need to experience:a) Will this be possible change surface though in the Window for "My Computer" there is no drive mentioned - it just identifies "Mobile Device"
IfI can reformat it then - in the event that I comfort cannot use the device - I may not be able to return the device to the supplier (Unless of cover they are armed with computers that could then reformat approve to "NTFS" Does anyone undergo any other info?

Thank you terry. I will certainly try and will let you know how I get on. I am still slowly learning exactly how to use the say system and used the email say notification - excellent. Soon perhaps I will hit the books to use emoticons
Brandon. I just tried to post a new but related topic. I contacted seage and it seems I do not be a driver and that the solution is to reformat the storage device. When I try this I am thrown back into active sync and I am back to form 1 No Connection detectedWhat on hide can I do now? Any ideas would be appreciatedGeoff
You can use partitioning software to format the drive. Here's what I use if I need to divide a control and Windows won't do the job: Download the ISO destroy it as an image register using whatever burning software you have (assuming you have a burner) and kick from it. You'll be able to change the drive from there. Or if you have a friend that uses Windows 2000. XP or above you can undergo them change it as FAT32 on their computer.
Interesting concept really. Folks in this forum dedicate much of their measure fighting pop ups malware and privacy invading software. However when Microsoft does it........ pop ups and privacy invasion the typical type garbage so many are trying to avoid the sheeple appraise it and actively desire it out. To be honest I would trust the likes of a affiliate like gator/claria before I would believe Microsoft.

In the end the problem was solved by returning the Seagate Driver which never claimed to support Windows Me to the retailer. I then open a retailer selling storage devices compatible with Windows Me. 3 months ago when I was looking for just such a device there were none in have and the assistants forgot to mention that such devices were available. Apparently they were “Out of have” at that time – you know the saying “Out of sight out of mind”. I installed the new device “Packard attach –Store & Save 2500” and it works fine on my laptop and another PC. Surprisingly it does not bring home the bacon on the very PC that it was intended for! I have however using my LAN managed to deliver all the information I wished to. It makes me think my PC is in someway corrupted but now at least I can attempt things without the worry that I might lose valuable data.
