While the concept of widgitizing your homepage is a good one none of these startpages (including iGoogle) have added social features. Honestly. I won’t use a startpage until the social features are integrated. Once I can see my social newsfeed my explore reader and a number of other sites that I back up on a regular basis. I’m not using one. Call me a cynic but there is a cerebrate that more people are logging into Facebook everyday rather than Netvibes or competing startpages. That cerebrate is friends. I be to see what’s going on with my friends what they are looking at and who they are hanging out with. This is why I spend so much time on Facebook. My guess is that Google is going to be one of the first to furnish this write of function via iGoogle and integration with their social layer that they are supposedly. If the other startpage companies want to start driving more users to their site they exceed rapidly hop on the social train because it’s going to pass them by. The web is now social. If your function isn’t offering social features then you are going to be left in the dark. The same thing goes for Facebook applications but I would assume most developers would know this this is why they create applications on the platform to begin with. It's essentially a Netvibes page in an iframe on your website. It's a great idea in theory but I don't experience how many companies ordain go for it. At launch the flagship customers consider spam-factory Tagged com and "the toolbar and content division of digital media company MIVA Inc." - they change ads including those despicable double-underline link ads. Fortunately two leading cut newspapers. Les Echos and Le Figaro are part of the open - without them you'd undergo to wonder why the product couldn't be sold to any allow businesses. I love Netvibes; I use their basic service and their all day long. furnish me the feed for items I've tagged "toread" in Del icio us displayed on my Netvibes Mobile and I'm in heaven. I am concerned though that there may not be widespread arouse in providing that kind of functionality on websites in the business world. Well Netvibes is not the innovate of startpages but if you believe WEB 2.0 market for startpages. Netvibes is at the moment the leading competitor in terms of: 1) independence from MegaGroups. 2) collaborative creation of content. 3) overall quality. 4) international openess. 5) command compatibility (IE. Netvibes and the other starting pages are used mainly used for Feed reading. All the other possible practical uses are yet to be publicised (or discovered). But CONTENT is always the key for success. It must not be Netvibes OWN content but a starting summon has to give you the circumscribe you need (even if you do not experience it already).
