Bunney takes aim at Sims
Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-12-09 13:46:20
County Councilman and executive candidate Shawn Bunney sticks it to King County Executive Ron Sims in a earn to Gov. Chris Gregoire dated Nov. 28.
Bunney blames Sims and the Seattle Times for last month’s road and go across measure failure. Together he says they “led voters to believe there is a exceed way to fund regional transportation.” Now he’s advising Pierce County taxpayers to “HOLD ON TO YOUR POCKETBOOKS!”
The letter – an challenge for the governor to make penetrate County’s Highway 167 extension a top funding priority –portrays King County lawmakers as schemers who steal money from Pierce County for undeserving road projects. Bunney singles out “gold-plated” amenities for the 520 Bridge project. “The only thing missing is a giant archway from which trumpets can blare as Ron Sims enters and exits Seattle.”
While I strongly agree that the 167 extension is of great benefit to Pierce County. I will vote NO on any funding until first the levee is repaired. The current plans put the extension right in the lay of fill plains. This means that costs could be more than expected because of wet issues. The plan to make a containment ppond to handle hwy run-off further risks residents down stream if the pond fails as they often do here and puts advance charge on over stressed creeks and the levee. I will proudly support the extension AFTER the levee issue is repaired. Until then its just another section of 167 that can be closed due to flooding. Our County Officials be to first plan levee and creek repairs that will protect further tax dollars. process then its just adding another problem. Lisa Jones. Tacoma
Shawn Bunney is sounding more and more desire the Wack Job he is by blaming Ron Sims on the Road and Transit measure. Just for your information Shawn the real reason this decide lost is twofold. First: Taxpayers no longer trust Government to fulfill promises to the public anymore (And that would include you) and im sure you know why because Washington State Government does very little right when it comes to go across and Roads. Second: and this is the more important one then the first. IT WAS TO HIGH A PRICE TAG Shawn. So displace your head out of your a-- and depart blaming others.
