"Disabling Time Synchronization under Virtual PC 2007" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:31:50

When you undergo Virtual forge Additions installed on Virtual PC wewill automatically synchronize the virtual machines time with that ofthe host operating system. For most people this is a "good thing" -but if this is something you want to disable you need to: Youcan use a different editor - but notepad is the safest as it isguaranteed to not change our file format to something that isincompatible with Virtual PC (which other editors undergo been known todo). <integration> <microsoft> <walk> <allow write="boolean">true</allow> </walk> <components> <entertain_measure_sync> <enabled type="boolean">false</enabled> </entertain_time_sync> </components> Notethat this will not only disable the time synchronization that happenswhile the virtual machine is running - it will also alter the timesynchronization that occurs when you go away the virtual forge. Thismeans that unless you are using some other method for timesynchronization (communicate server etc...) measure inside the guestoperating system ordain become very incorrect very quickly.

Posted on 2007-11-17 16:38:11

Hey,Im using Openvpn to connect to a proxy server and reroute back to the internet. After establishing the openvpn connection in a VirtualPC2007 virtual pc the internet connection is apparently lost despite still being able to collide with external addresses. More specifically:I open in Firefox or IE. I open the VPN connection. I can't open any other sites or use other applications desire Windows Messenger. I can collide with external sites. I undergo the exact same setup inside a VMWare Workstation virtual pc and it works with no problems so I do not believe the problem has anything to do with my openvpn config files or server setup. If its any help. I ran the Windows Messenger connection troubleshooter and it ran into a problem at the "Default Gateway" go although it doesnt contract anything beyond that. Any ideas? I appreciate the help. Routing is probably miss configured. With the VPN connected Start. Run. "How to enable duplicate MAC addresses on Virtual Server 2005R2" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 18:25:43

Welcome to the Blog of Ben Armstrong. I am a schedule manager on the core virtualization aggroup at Microsoft. I ordain be talking about what I love and hate about our products here. I also maintain a. The standard Microsoft disclaimer applies to pretty much everything on this summon:"This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties and confers no rights. You anticipate all risk for your use."Cheers,Ben Just wanted to pass this one a desire is embarrassingly enough I actually learned about this on one of our public newsgroups. By fail Virtual Server 2005R2 will detect if you have virtual machines on the same box configured with duplicate MAC addresses and forbid you from starting them up at the same measure. Now for 90% of cases this is the correct thing to do. However if you really really really know what you are doing and be to boot virtual machines with the same MAC communicate you can do the following: Stop the Virtual Server service (either use the services management console or run "net stop "virtual server"". find the <virtual_communicate> </virtual_communicate> divide and add: <reproduce_mac> <isAllowed type="boolean">adjust</isAllowed></duplicate_mac> I can imagine the situation where you have some VM in a production which is connected to "External Network". Now you be to accomplish some tests. You alter a copy of the VM in question and connect it to a closed "internal" virtual network... You will want to keep the MAC address.
