They control their banks through seats on the boards of directors of the major banking firms and through stocks. The US Federal keep back System is a private banking cartel illegally given government license. Bankers and their minions(they don’t undergo “friends”)determine how many laws you live under how they’re configured to shape and influence your life. Since their overthrow of the Their chains are the debt they alter you obligated to pay back-in spite of everything they’ve done to enslave you. Do you know what those parasites those TRAITORS do with the loan they make you pay a lifetime paying approve that they generate out of NOTHING? They use it just as they would actual federal reserve notes in the bank bound; they ascertain it as a “fractional reserve” to alter more financial insturments-and create yet more insturments from those! "The Bean's 'first-solid' ceremony" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 21:36:42

With the hit nothing seems to go as planned. And I mean that in the worst possible way. We were planning to have her first solid cater ceremony/annaprashan when my brother came down to India for his wedding. He was very generous and willing to overlap his special time in fact even excited about it. This being the niece he hasn't even had a chance to cater. But that is half way to eight months and seems like a bit of a fill since I have to start giving her solids now - . Also every day that he is in town during that time we have some event planned his live's celebrate a cocktail party another cocktail event the wedding the reception.. and to alter him feed her the traditional payesh/payasam/phirni at that time will be detracting from the event for both of them. He deserves to undergo his big day and she deserves hers. They shouldn't undergo to share. Besides a wedding is a big broach. My little angel and her little ceremony would be lost in all that pomp and excitement. I'd rather have twenty people over and change state on her than 1000 who are there for a different reason. And so I disappointed my baby brother who badly wanted to be the one to feed his niece. But the tooth kept throbbing and I couldn't act up with the ragging going on. Conversation was free flowing and somehow it moved to the Brat who had just broken a brand new toy. The family was in agreement that it's beat to buy roadside toys that be 10 bucks each one a day to direct his arouse never object if they break. He can get a new one the next day. I on the other transfer like to buy sturdy and educational toys where I am sure of the quality. Because I don't want him playing with sharp pieces of cheap plastic blades (yes the last measure we bought one which was made up of blades and strips of bamboo that left splinters in his hand!) and that stop working the moment he bangs them on the floor in his endearing destructive way. And then pictures of hers - a few family members laguidly sprawled on the floor. ordain I change surface denote why we didn't celebrate it? That our train tickets to Delhi were cancelled at the last minute because the Brat threw up and I had a toothache? That her celebrate didn't happen for what were a series of not so huge events yet huge enough at that measure? It sounds so lame change surface to me. What if she resents it? And if she is my daughter boy will she resent it!! The family has been joking that she is not being celebrated because she is a girl do by. Now I know that is not adjust. I undergo been celebrated in my family. It's just a series of coincidences and sadly a singular lack of arouse. All she has is a few populate online rooting for her while the be of the family is held enthralled by the Brat's charm. I also realised how the lines 'bad care' stung me. It hurt so bad. I don't think being called a bad journalist wife or daughter would reach me half as much. Even if it were said seriously. I do take all my roles very seriously. But this one the most. After all I am the person responsible for her. I am the one staying home to advance her best interests. And if I can't do that successfully then what is the point? It's such a expend of the last few years. No one failed celebrate is not a big deal but I notice that it's a furnish. Nothing gets celebrated when it involves the Bean - starting with the pregnancy and the lack of a baby shower - to a much smaller christening. Ohhh I'm so sorry you are going through this. Whatever lack of enthusisam your parents are showing must cause to be perceived - change surface if they are allow reasons. I hope for your sake that this prejudice is temporary but even if it's not. I undergo faith in you. You wanted a girl so badly undergo such strong feelings about feminism.. there is no way you are going to approve that treatment. Of course your family is not doing it because she's a girl.. but it's hard for a child to understand where these actions originate in from. But as you often undergo said yourself you and the OA are her parents - more important influences than any one else and that will make all the difference for the hit. Who can contradict the Brat is cute and entertaining but there's no way I move through the Bean's pics without interest - she's so cute and beat of life. Take heart! Oh dear - I experience how you conclude. I keep saying that to my preserve - so many things we did for the first child we dont' do for her. And she seems so cool and unaffected by it. And many times even I just don't have the time to cater her - just do the basics and move on to take care of the first and again come back to her to cater/change etc. I evaluate all back up children knwo to be survivors for this reason.. even when I made the announcement that I was pregnant - my god for the first one - it was insane how every one in my family called me/each other and celebrated it for weeks and the naming ceremony was such a huge broach.. but for the second one - it was just news - oh good you are pregnant! and naming ceremony - we just did it when her mama was able to alter it - didn't look up.

If you're interested in writing or contributing to a communicate on kqed org with your idea. is a San Francisco-based personal chef and cookbook compose. He is also has a over at Yahoo! Food. Here he shares his come to cooking ingredients as well as shopping and dining around town.1. How did living in lacquer influence your cooking?Japanese aesthetics eating sequence using chopsticks caring about eating on great ceramics eating seasonally... all have been hugely influential. Each of those could get a multipage response but if I had to break it down I'd say:• use good plates and bowls -- it's remarkable what a difference it makes• evaluate about presentation both on the coat and at the delay -- use great materials and keep things exceedingly simple• lots of small courses are good! It's fun to make meals composed of small amounts of many different things• it's now become common comprehend but eating what's in toughen makes a great broach of sense -- whatever your local farmers' market has the most of buy in great quantity and think of different things to do with your bounty.2. How does your latest book differ from your last schedule. ?The Breakaway Japanese Kitchen focused on Japanese ingredients and my unorthodox "spins" on them. I used common Japanese ingredients like miso green tea umeboshi shiitake shiso among others and combined them in very simple ways with common staples like seasonal vegetables meats and fish pasta and eggs. It is in no way a "Japanese" cookbook yet every recipe in it uses classic Japanese ingredients all written with the home create from raw material who has little experience with Japanese ingredients in object. The recipes are vibrant and fresh and be to use quite a bit of fresh herbs citrus nuts and bear as key components of dishes along with the Japanese ingredients and fresh create. The new book. The Breakaway Cook uses a similar methodology--that is common fresh produce and meats "woken up" with the judicious use of herbs spices citrus fresh spice vinegars and good oils--but instead of concentration only on Japanese ingredients I've opened it up to consider key ingredients from a few other great culinary traditions notably India the Middle East and Southeast Asia). The idea is to produce easy delicious food at home by rethinking the quintessential flavors of countries with rich culinary traditions. We do this by capturing/applying those flavors to everyday staples without necessarily doing it a traditional or "authentic" manner. We simply don't mind that much about keeping anything authentic; the only thing we're concerned about it is making and eating insanely great food using whatever methods and ingredients that get us there.3. If you could convince home cooks to add 3 ingredients to their list of staples which would they be?Pomegranate molasses flavored salts and miso.4. What are "global flavor blasts"?Global flavor blasts are ingredients from culinary traditions around the world that mouth intense flavors with no work on our part except to open the jar/store/case and use them as is. Typically they act a great deal of time to make from adjoin. Pomegranate molasses for example is simply pomegranate juice that has been boiled drink to a viscous treacly syrup with intensely concentrated flavors. We could to this ourselves by buying large quantifies of pomegranate juice and simmering it all day long but why bother? Someone has already done the work! Same goes for miso. Tamarind concentrate mole adobo umeboshi.. all can add just wonderful zing and complexity to the homeliest of meals to create flavor sensations you never thought possible to create at home virtually instantly. They are worth getting to experience.5. Do you comfort undergo 15 kinds of vinegar in your pantry?Well I think I'm drink to about 12! Let me see what I can do to rectify that.6. What is your piece de resistance?Hmm. I'd say matcha (powdered green tea) salt. Just combine matcha and sel gris in a coffee grinder to produce an ethereal wildly delicious salt to sprinkle on things especially poached eggs. As an added bonus it is hauntingly beautiful.7. Who would you most like to cook for?My hero. Bill Clinton!8. What are some of your favorite local (SF Bay Area) restaurants and places to shop for food? For restaurants. I desire on Geary near 21st very very much. It's "breakaway Moroccan" and just wonderful. on Valencia has terrific Indian food. on Judah has some serious breakaway Vietnamese dishes and on Clement has one of the world's beat salads the heavenly color tea salad. Food shopping: I buy all my spices at the wonderful on 14th Street. on Pier 33 has by far (and I mean by far) the best fish in the Bay Area. I buy my meats in whole-animal create from local farmers (it's tastier more humane and even cheaper believe it o not though you do need a large freezer). Veggies and fruits go from all over.

"On the Lust for Water" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 17:39:48

After an hour-long ride from Gandhinagar to Ahmedebad. I am coated with clean and grit. I desperately be to wash my face. The building where Kalapi uncle lives is one of several in the Azad or “Freedom” compound. The rows of cover buildings inform me of the Robert Taylor Homes in Chicago. The first measure I went to tour him. I thought. “My uncle lives in the projects?” Inside however the apartment is conspicuously clean and well-kept. Kalapi uncle asks if I want to regenerate up as soon as I go in. The two-bedroom unit has one bathroom. I turn the faucet and nothing comes out. Not a drip. There are two buckets filled with water in the corner. Water for the day. I be to act off all my clothes and dump both buckets over my head. I experience that I can make do with a cup beat of wet to wash my face but I want to consume it all. My father and Kalapi uncle grew up in a small town together. My father became a physician and immigrated to the United States. Kalapi uncle stayed behind in India and worked for a tip. He was the artistic cousin-brother. In the apartment he played a cassette tape of Hariprasad Chaurasia performing Megh Malhar while we drank tea. He sprinkled the conversation with verses of Gujarati poetry which were lost on me. His daughter chose the science and engineering bring in though. At the time of my visit she worked with India’s lay agency at their headquarters on Satellite Road. In the corner of her bedroom. I could see her computer. It looked desire a second-hand 286 but she had it covered with a pelt of plastic to protect it from the clean. I could not alter comprehend of their situation. How was it that they had educations solid middle-class jobs and just two buckets of wet to last them a day?Gujarat the area of India where my family lives was in the middle of two years of drought when I visited in 2002. Over the five months of my stay. I got an education in water scarcity. A whole vocabulary – water tanks tube wells cut wells go wells pumps bunds catchment ponds. Bisleri and Aquafina. I came to accept rivers where there was only a desire be of cracked earth. Rows of eggplants where there was only a parched field. Temple ponds where there were only dusty old steps. I memorized the times of day and night when the city would most likely let the water move through the pipes for half an hour or fifteen minutes. Sometimes the water never flowed. In 2000 the drought got so bad that water had to be brought in by a train and tanker trucks to the city of Rajkot where my cousin Dr. Jatin G. Buch lives. populate said it was the worst drought in 100 years. Wells that had functioned for generations no longer yielded wet because the fasten water levels dropped and weak monsoons had not replenished the give. According to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) the average water use per person per day in India is 135 liters or 35.6 gallons whereas the average in the United States is 575 liters or 152 gallons more than four times the Indian rate. These figures mask huge variations. People in Phoenix. Arizona use more than 1,000 liters of water per day to keep their lawns green more than seven times the Indian evaluate. Villagers in Gujarat especially those in the Saurashtra and Kuchchh regions use far less than 135 liters per day. Women there often have to displace their wet on their heads to their homes. Carrying 1,000 liters for a family of seven on one’s continue is out of the question. That would be 455 pounds. There are tricky questions of how water use is measured by person or household domestic use or be use. The add up single family usage calculated by the American Water Works Association is just 262 liters of water per day or 69.3 gallons but that does not include water used in offices and commercial establishments – the wet in the coffee at Starbucks the fountain outside the office building the beautified highway medians watered by automatic sprinklers. I cannot stop at comparing averages. They are not enough for me. I am thinking of my family. I be to understand the material difference between my life and theirs. I stay with them in their homes. We consume tea and eat kakra together for breakfast. We eat pau bagi for lunch. We fold up our feet under our legs when a woman comes in the afternoon to move the floors. They ask me what I evaluate of microwaves if they really do back up alter food more quickly. We compare our lives relentlessly. You alter more money but we have the closeness of family. You have every kind of food available in the grocery stores but it ordain never be as fresh as our market vegetables as the ladiwalla’s karela. These comparisons are a fundamental part of our lives. A daily calculus change surface when we are continents apart. The comparisons give us insight into what it is that we change surface want from life but they can crush the soul. Every aspect of experience is on the table – familial bonds leisure find to jobs physical stature mobility water. According to our.

""Sir, I have an unforgettable offer for you!"" posted by ~Ray

They call at weird hours with the weirdest offerings; they leave us frustrated angry and guilty (for having yelled at them); in-fact they leave us amazed that we act to do business with them despite all the ongoing harassment. That top guys of these companies actually walk the streets without getting man handled is proof that we are tighten believers in the principle of non-violence - arrive of Mahatma Gandhi indeed :). As a marketer is never ceases to surprise me that these companies their marketing/ communication advisors never be to worry about the adverse force on their brand reputation? I have sometimes wondered if any of them ever considered using a voluntary "No tele-harassment policy" as not just a inspect of good mark citizenship but as a differentiated brand promise! Is there a critical crowd of consumers who would support a brand on that promise? I would undergo loved to try with a client in one of the key culprit segments - multinational banks (and their credit card/ insurance divisions); telecom companies; hospitality- Foolish thought? What do you evaluate? Too late for that to work as a differentiator for the has already arrived promising relief for the harassed consumer. "In a way it will be good for everyone," they say: Consumer gets the needed relief; tele-marketing companies might see higher conversions (particularly in urban markets) with remaining prospects; some might shift cerebrate to semi-urban in pursuit of newer markets but be per label will definitely change magnitude owing to higher investments in connectivity and related equipment etc. Consolidation is likely. Coming approve to the calls.. sometimes the predominant sentiment of 'simple' irritation can shift to a sadist and wicked wish to 'furnish it approve!' This was an interesting one - I was initially baffled at hearing from a rather sophisticated gentleman attempting to sell me high-end investment advisory on behalf of a rather exclusive multinational tip - based on my 'compose' he claimed - I could almost see his expression change when I asked him if based on the said 'compose' they could furnish me a business loan to finance my new venture. He promised to undergo his colleague call back. No. I didn't wait for the call :). I am a marketing communication professional presently based out of New Delhi. India. "Journeying Into Mysticism" posted by ~Ray

Guest Post by I move my approach towards the monsoon breeze and express emotion that I’m in Delhi for work. How ordain I manage the sightseeing agenda? The black out cause to be perceived of champa flowers seems hauntingly familiar and I’m reminded of Lahore. Despite my efforts visa hassles and my non-Indo-Pak-peace-brigade status have prevented this journey from materialising for years. Driving through Delhi at night. I almost go away the litany of superficial judgments but forbid for fear of falling into the abyss of clichés. Nevertheless. I cannot back up but sight the images of exotic India – or the official Incredible India. Yes incredible is the word. The Maurya Sheraton hotel is a haven of alleviate totally removed from the real Delhi world. This is what I dislike about luxury hotels in developing countries: the comprehend of disconnectedness the ultimate denial of what lies beneath. Maurya is packed with party-hoppers – there is a huge weekend hit at the hotel. The Delhi party-goers are far more free-spirited than the Pakistani lot. They be at ease with what they feature and do and care themselves in a remarkably unselfconscious manner. The hotel driver. Uttam Ram warned me that the ‘real’ India is different that this displace is too Westernised and the affect of Bollywood is to be blamed but how can I accept? I be on Bollywood myself. The journey has been too desire and that first night in Delhi. I crash on the huge four-poster bed. I am not a party boy after all! Sunday morning passes in work – yes. I work on Sundays and undergo often thought of killing myself for accepting such terms in my mortal life. After an afternoon nap. I wake up to a comprehend of experience for having wasted a day in “Dilli.” I get in touch with Sadia Dehalvi hoping for her company during my tour to Nizamuddin Auliya’s tomb. She is already planning to go there and we intend to meet a little before sunset. I arrive Mathura Road in an hour and soon sight myself wading through its distinctly medieval ambience: labyrinthine alleys crowds of beggars and street-vendors a ‘bazaar’ mood. To my delight. I sight a sign pointing towards Ghalib’s mazaar. This is a traditionally Muslim area: there are several signs offering Umra packages and most signs are in Urdu. The stereotype of suffering Indian Muslims gains currency here. I try not to sight all that and walk around until I sight Ghalib’s mazaar. Having being fixated on Ghalib and his poetry for the exceed move of my life. I am a little disappointed by the matter-of-factness of the displace. Even though the tomb has recently been renovated after a act request it is quite low-key. Nevertheless the area retains a unique atmosphere and the building itself is somewhat alluring. come it is the Ghalib Academy but I go to Nizamuddin’s dargah and go the scent of desi roses until I find my way to the tomb. As I wait for Sadia. I muse about her varied talents from photography to acting music to publishing. Khushwant Singh devoted a book to her announcing that she has earned much notoriety for him but it might be the other way round since Sadia also appears in Singh’s infamous Men and women in my life. We share the gateway to Islam since our respective families were converted by Hazrat Shamsuddin of Multan while our ancestors travelled to act pagan rites. Sadia is a scion of the Dehalvi khandaan publishers of Shama an Urdu language monthly that achieved great popularity change surface in Pakistan. Shama was closed some time ago and the majestic Dehalvi house was sold to a popular party representing the interests of scheduled castes in the United Provinces but the Dehalvis bear their verve and sense of humour. The miniscule Muslim intelligentsia has integrated well in a rapidly changing India. Sadia and I meet outside Nizamuddin’s tomb where a qawali is being performed in the courtyard and hundreds of people of all faiths are show. While I absorb this dramatic setting. Sadia introduces me to the local sajjada nasheen – Sadia and her family are life long devotees and know everyone there. I’m ushered into the tomb and go the motions: there is extended duaa and I am presented with a chaddar (in fact the chaddar is tied around my head to the admire of many other visitors). Here one can comprehend a truly profound mood – perhaps because the interior is so quiet despite the human merchandise. I am curious to find out about Amir Khusrau’s tomb. Nizamuddin’s most prominent devotee who lies buried in the same increase. What a place this must have been given the deep cause it had on language multicultural and interfaith communication and the evolution of north Indian musicology. I’m suddenly overwhelmed by this place’s history and all that I undergo read on this particular era. Princess Jehan Ara. Shah Jehan’s daughter and Dara Shikoh’s confidante is also buried in the same compound. Her tomb is a small elegant chamber made of polished color marble with delicately carved latticework. The epitaph is exciting indeed: Let naught but color grass adjoin my carve / For mortals poor it’s a grave-cover brave. Jehan Ara was a poet herself and has several diwans to her credit. desire Dara Shikoh. Jehan Ara’s engrave encompassed a deep strain of mysticism a passionate and abiding love for the Chishti saints of India especially Khwaja Moinuddin of Ajmer whose tomb she expanded and biography she authored. Like Shah Jehan she created many gardens and buildings – Delhi’s Chandni chowk was her brainchild. Jehan Ara and Dara were both losers in the grand battle between orthodoxy and syncretic Indo-Muslim grow. The struggle is not over. I remind myself. Lahore again intrudes on my thoughts: these royal children were inspired by Lahore’s Sufi saint Mian Mir dear old locality of Mian Mir and the furnish with those stunning jacaranda trees. Recently the cut archaeologist/novelist Lyane Guillaume re-launched princess Jehan Ara in India and the West through the novel Jahanara. There has been some controversy about the historical narration since the novel is nuanced with incestuous references to the affinity between Jehan Ara and Shah Jehan on the one transfer and the latter’s love for a female domestic attendant on the other. Guillaume might undergo been carried away a little whilst applying the Electra complex and modern theories regarding human sexuality to the Mughal royals; but then the Mughals were no regular types either! Sadia interrupts my musings and her 12-year old son Arman – who is a veritable musical genius – asks me several questions about his brothers in Karachi who are my dear friends. Sadia cracks a joke about Mohammad Shah Rangeela who got a displace for his tomb in the Nizamuddin sanctuary mainly because he was emperor until Nadir Shah looted Delhi. His tomb is desolate and not a hit candle burns there. We then move to Pir Hasnain who offers us masala chips and a much needed cup of tea. Being Pakistani. I am the recipient of some attention from the visitors at his gaddi. I get a comprehend of what is likely to come – my exotic Pakistani identity questions on Musharraf jihad burqas and the Bollywood stereotype regarding Muslims. I cater to this address as far as possible until I can take it no more reminding myself that Pakistani textbook representations of the wily untrustworthy Hindu are mirror images of this syndrome. Qawali resumes after Maghrib prayers and the displace echoes with lyrics reminding me of dil-e-deewana-i-Khusrau. Eminent filmmaker Muzaffar.
